It is nearly the Halloween holiday once again. Things are about to go happen in the night. Specter professionals would have you think that the dead really walk the land on October 31st, Halloween is as much a matter of specters and creatures that don't exist that films that we watch on TV. For anyone involved, here is a account of the modern day holiday named Halloween.

At the beginning, this event was called All Hallows Eve. We aren't speaking of Sleepy Hollow. Hallow implies blessed. Former pagan beliefs, especially the Celts, would celebrate diverse phases of the earth. One of those festivities was Samhain. It is said saw-in. This was a festival that commemorated the lives of the defunct persons. There was nothing wrong with this, except that they did not distinguish the good dead and the bad dead. Masses commemorated every dead. This festival fell on October 31st.



Isn't it scary? Well, it's necessary that you remember that early pagan beliefs were fond of superstition as in the Middle Ages. They were terrified by ghosts and believed they had the power to come back to the human world; which frightened them.

As history goes, during this time, priests of the pagan faith would pray these spirits in order to have their grace for harvest season. Peoples sustenance was based on those crops and they were scared that the ghosts would torment them and destruct the harvests.

The Christian church determined to fight such superstition by adding a bit of Christianity to the occasion. They they transferred the celebration of All Saints Day from March 13th to November 1st. Persons would in all probability be less afraid and more engaged in the Christian celebration than the non-Christian one.

Everyone did not changed their hereditary credence nevertheless. People would cover their faces with masks when they went out at night in hopes that any wandering souls would consider them as companions and cancel their maleficence. They also used big carved turnips and turned them into lanterns by introducing candles inside them .

Over time, All Hallows Eve evolved in Halloween. The celebration of this festival evolved, kids wear a variety of costumes to scare people and get some candy all together.
