Monsters: Reality or Myth?
![]() Monster In the mid 1980’s there were reports of some very bizarre and terrifying creatures in an area of Italy along the eastern coast. All of the eyewitnesses reported very similar descriptions of two creatures that would swoop down, screeching horribly and grab livestock or people. The beasts were described as having huge wings and with faces that were humanoid in appearance with large sharp teeth. Both of the creatures had breasts like a woman and they both had bodies that resembled a large bird with enormous taloned feet that could grasp like hands. One of them had male genitalia. After each attack these creatures would head back towards the extremely secluded rocky seacoast. One can assume that was where they maintained their nest or lair. The descriptions given were the same as those of the old Greek legends of the harpy. The witnesses were considered very soundly reliable. Documented reports of these flying beasts go as far back as the early 1800’s. These creatures have also been known to attack fishing boats and snatch unfortunate sailors. ![]() Darkness The French settlers and lumberjacks called it the "wooly boo-gar" or "wooly demon". This horrifying creature of legend is the source of the now trite term "wooly booger" that mothers have used to scare their children into behaving. Eye witness descriptions of this terrifying beast report it stands around eight to ten feet tall and has long gray-white fur and walks on two legs like a man. It has long sharp claws and teeth and gleaming red eyes. The blood-curdling screeching is nearly indescribable. Those who have heard it say it is like a howl, a moan, and a scream combined. Accounts of this creature by extremely reliable witnesses continue to this day. The most recent account given occurred in 2000 along the Sheltowee Trace in the north-eastern region of Kentucky.
