Four Quick and Easy to Make Halloween Decoration Ideas

halloween countdown

Halloween is once again approaching and you certainly would like to have your home to look as Halloween-ish as possible by the end of Ocober. In order to help you do this, here a Four Quick and Easy homemade Halloween decoration ideas that you can create at home with the kids.

Halloween Orange Lights

The very first way to give your home a very Halloween-ish look is by changing the white light bulbs in your indoor and outdoor lanterns and lights into orange bulbs. You can find orange bulbs in any good retailer store.

Whenever you prefer to use Halloween lit garlands, it's great too. Halloween garlands come in different shapes: mini pumpkins, ghosts, vampires, skulls or mummies and aren't extremely expensive.

Hang one garland around the front door and some others in the living room.

Homemade Halloween Lights

The second way to make inexpensive Halloween lights is to make your own Halloween lanterns at home. For such a crafts, you'll just need paper lunch bags, a cutter or a pair of scissors, a black marker and some paintings.

Take each bag and draw a Halloween shape on each of them - make one with a pumpkin, another one with a ghost, a third one with a vampire, then a mummy, a bat, etc. With a cutter or scissors, cut the eyes, nose and mouth of your character, then paint the bag in any Halloween-ish color that you best like.

Once the paint on the bags dried, fill each bag with 1 or 2 cups sand, place a candle in a glass container and place the glass into the sand. Light the candles at dusk - whether on Halloween night or each day during the last 14 days before Halloween.

Place these homemade Halloween lights along the walkway up to your front door or near the windows if you want to use them indoor.

Homemade Halloween Scarecrow

Next great do it yourself Halloween decoration is the scarecrow. For such a decoration, here are the materials you need:

  • Well worn pants
  • Well worn flanned shirt
  • Hay
  • Straw Hat
  • Twine
  • Permanent black marker
  • An old pillowcase
  • A chair (to use outdoor or indoor)

Directions:

  • Stuff pants and shirt with hay - let some of the hay stick out from the extremities of the clothes
  • Place the pants on the chair so that you give its final position to the scarecrow
  • Tie arms and legs with twine
  • Stuff the used pullowcase with hay
  • Tie with twine and place its bottom inside the collar of the flannel shirt so that it becomes the scarecrow's head
  • Secure the head to the shirt collar with some twine
  • Draw the face of your scarecrow with a permanent black marker
  • Place the straw hat on its head

Voila! You've got a new family member.

Homemade Halloween Pumpkin Family

You surely have a huge lot of used cans at home. Select at least 5 of them, each having a different size. The biggest one becoming the father, the smallest one, the baby pumpkin.

Use orange spray paint to colour your cans and draw pumpkin faces with a black permanent marker on each can.

Place a tea candle in each can and light them each evening so that you bring the Halloween spirit to the home long before October 31st.
