Star Treck Halloween Costumes

Star Trek Classic Blue Shirt Deluxe Adult Costume There are a number of excellent costume ideas from the 1960s and 1970s in television and movie themes. There were many excellent and memorable television shows and movies that hailed from those times and it is primarily because of the fact that they are so memorable that costumes paying homage to some of these shows are costumes that tend to be very popular. One thing in particular about the 1960s and 1970s is the fact that these two decades gave birth to the start of the science fiction genre in a big way. There were movies beforehand in science fiction, but the 60s and 70s made science fiction into a household genre and there were two franchises in particular that helped get this done.

The first one is Star Trek, the brainchild of Gene Roddenberry. Of course, Star Trek was famous for things like the first interracial kiss and the use of physics in a way that confused many people, but it was also very famous for the types of costumes it brought up. For example, if you are a Star Trek captain from this time period, you would be wearing a uniform that involved a mustard top and black trousers. This is something that would be recognized instantly by people that were fans of the show.

Alternatively, Star Trek was also famous for "redshirt syndrome", in which a non-main character in a red shirt would beam down to a planet with the team and get killed. Taking this rather humorous multiple occurrence and turning it into a great costume could win you some laughs and cheers this upcoming Halloween.

Star Wars Halloween Costumes

Star Wars Clone Trooper Deluxe Adult Costume Star Trek was not the only science fiction franchise to get its start during these two decades however as Star Wars also had its foundation laid during this period of time. Star Wars was created by George Lucas and was a wholly different beast from Star Trek, involving Jedi Knights, The Force and some of the more memorable characters to ever come out of science fiction.

Good examples of such characters are Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Darth Vader, all of which are characters you could model your costume after. Alternatively, there are storm troopers, imperial soldiers in grey uniforms and rebel pilots in orange-white uniforms that would all be very recognizable as well.

There are many choices in 60s and 70s science fiction for you to choose from, which makes it a great source for Halloween costume ideas.
